Q: Does Medicare cover home care services?

A: No, Medicare does not cover the cost of home care service. Certified Home Health care, is covered by Medicare, under a doctor’s order, and for a limited period of time. Home Care provides assistance for a person’s activities of daily living, such as bathing, meal preparation, homemaking, and errands. Home Care service is covered by many payment sources other than Medicare, including long-term care insurance, Veteran’s Assistance programs such as aide and attendance, Medicaid, waiver programs, and private pay.

Q: How do I contact Opal Stork Home Care after hours or on the weekends?

A: Opal Stork care managers are on call 365 days per year, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Just call 800-929-9317 (the office number) and our on-call Care Manager will readily explore your needs and concerns

Q: How can I be sure the staff that you send are trustworthy and capable of providing care?

A: Opal Stork Caregivers are carefully screened through a rigorous hiring process. In addition to thoroughly researching the background, work history and driving records of all our caregivers, Opal Stork Home Care ensures all the necessary licensing and insurance to cover accidents and complications. All Opal Stork Home Care Caregivers receive extensive training before working by APRN Educator, and they receive client-specific training by the RN Care Manger upon hiring and on an on-going basis. As part of our quality assurance yearly background checks are done.

Q:  Am I obligated to a contract for services?

A: The State of Connecticut regulations requires that Opal Stork Home Care by law must provide a contract for services. The contract does not obligate you to anything other than paying for the services you receive. You can cancel services at any time.

Q: How are services delivered? 

A: We are a concierge style agency that delivers care fully dependent on your specific needs. We deliver care at a minimum of 4 hours per visit or a full 24 hours per day. Services are scheduled when you need them for as long as you need them, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Our plans are customized to fit your personal needs. Ask, and we will work with you and your loved ones to make it possible.

Q: How are services paid for?

A: Services are paid by

    • Electronic Debit

    • Checks

  • Government-funded programs such as Medicaid and grants

 

Q: How are caregivers matches with clients? 

A: Opal Stork Home Care listens to your needs and makes every effort to ensure we find a caregiver that is the right match for you as a client. Our RN Care Manager will ensure that your caregiver is properly trained for your needs. Your care will always be supported by the 24/7 on-call RN Care Manager. We will also provide a backup caregiver in the event your primary caregiver becomes unavailable.

Q: How do I start care service?

A: Contact our office for an in-home assessment by one of our RN Care Managers. We listen, monitor, assess and evaluate all care needs whether at home or in the community. The Opal Stork Home Care RN Care Manager will meet with the client and their family to create a plan of care that is personalized for the client. To ensure a smooth care transition, a full care assessment can be initiated while an individual is still hospitalized as part of hospital to home care service.
